Kitchen and Closet Showcase by Thompson Custom Cabinetry began in 1990 in it’s present day location at 47 M Avenue, Nevada, IA. Both the factory and showroom are located here.

In the beginning...

In the 90s, the emphasis was on the materials used in cabinetmaking. There was a movement toward wood by-products and paper.  This had become the standard in most ready-to-order or mass-produced cabinets found in the lumberyards and chain home supply stores.  This is probably what set the custom-built cabinet industry  apart from the ready-to-order. Along with the other obvious reasons to invest in custom-built cabinets, most customers understand that an added benefit of custom-built cabinets is in the strength and  quality materials used in the production.

As we progress….

The computer age has effected many businesses and the cabinetmaker has not been overlooked.  An expansion of wood products and the design demands pushed the progress of cabinetmaking to a new level.  The CNC products (computer numerically controlled) entered the picture borrowed from the machinist’s world.  This advancement, when added to the router, opened up woodworking to unheard of depth.  Designs that were thought impossible, were now created with a CAD (computer assisted drawing).  As many things in our lives, the 21st century has opened up a new facet of creating and producing cabinets and furniture.

Kitchen & Closet Showcase has kept up with the ever changing world of cabinetmaking.
