The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show
& The AQS at Grand Rapids
Sept 8 - 14
I don't think the quilt show promoters planned this, but we are cashing in; two great, nationally recognized quilt shows back to back. With good planning, we sandwich a stop to Mackinac Islandand stay at the famous Grand Hotel on the island. It's a trifecta!
The Grand Hotel is the world's largest summer hotel.Bikes and horse drawn carriages are the modes of transportation with the geranium the featured flower.Dorothy Draper was The decorator of that era and her larger than life energy is show cased all throughout the hotel.
We haven't been to the Madison quilt show in some time, but they have been on my radar. This show is hosted by PBS and was partnered with the late Nancy Zieman. It is always well attended.
Grand rapids has hosted the AQS show for many years.Everyone agrees, this is a wonderful venue-really beautiful; located right on the river and across the walking bridge to the Gerald R. Ford Museum, newly renovated in 2016.
